The most used Sami knife, handy universal tool on trips, for chopping firewood, butchering, gutting, eating utensils etc. Large enough for rough work, small enough for finer use as well as hanging from the belt. Burnished carbon/carbon steel blade.
Genuine Sami knife produced by Knivsmed Strømeng in Norway.
The Strømeng family's ancestors brought blacksmithing to Karasjok in the 18th century. Since then, the family has passed down the craft traditions from generation to generation. Today Knivsmed Strømeng is one of the few companies that produces knives for today's Sámi.
Large universal knife, alternative to ax and saw on the go. Carbon steel in blade, shaft of birch boiled in linseed oil.
Maintenance of the Samekniven
The same knife from knifesmith Strømeng can be used for generations. To fully enjoy the knife for many years, we recommend you follow some simple advice:
- When the knife is to come out of the sheath, you clamp the sheath at the top of the flat side. This prevents the sheath from being cut open.
- The same knife is normally produced in carbon steel. Therefore, never wash the knife in a dishwasher.
- If the knife has become wet or damp after use, wipe the blade well before putting the knife back in its sheath. How to avoid rust. The blade is oiled before long-term storage.
- Our trademark - the reindeer head, is a guarantee for the knife's quality. Brass clip with "flag" on the sheath. Watch out for imitations.
