Different types of air guns - Air rifle

There are many different types of air rifles. In this guide, we'll go through the differences between air/PCP, electric, pump, spring, nitro piston/vortex, and CO2 powered air rifles.

Electric

Experience a new dimension in the sport with our innovative electric air rifles! Our collection of tactical air rifles offers you unparalleled power driven by electricity, and you can say goodbye to the hassle of cocking the break-barrel or the trouble of filling PCP tanks. With simple charging of the lipo battery at home, you're ready to shoot. These air rifles are designed for fun plinking. See all our electric air rifles here.

Air/PCP

Air / PCP-powered air rifles are air weapons that use compressed air as the driving force. These weapons are usually very powerful and precise. Most PCP air rifles have magazine capacity.PCP weapons are for you if you want high magazine capacity, maximum precision, and well-balanced power. Usually, you can expect between 40 and 140 shots per fill, but this varies between models. The air pressure must be pumped up either by using suitable hand pumps or compressors. Such devices can be found here: PCP Pumps/Compressors See all air/PCP-powered air rifles here.

Pump-Action Rifles

Pump-action rifles utilize an integrated pumping mechanism. These weapons are precise and durable. They are economical to operate and very easy to use. You pump up the weapon with a loading arm that is on the weapon. Usually, 3-5 pumps are enough. Then you only need pellets as accessories to be able to shoot. See all pump-action rifles here.

Spring Powered

Spring-powered airguns are the good old classics where you break the barrel (in some cases a loading arm), insert a pellet, break the barrel back up, and you're ready to shoot. Affordable, durable, and very cheap to operate. See all our spring-powered air rifles here.

Nitro Piston / Vortex

What is a nitro piston? These airguns operate on the same principle as the regular spring-powered ones. You break the barrel, insert a pellet, and break the barrel back up. What sets these apart from spring-powered is that they use a gas piston instead of a spring. This makes them easier to break, more powerful, quieter, and more durable. When you break the barrel, the gas in the cylinder is compressed, when you pull the trigger, the gas returns to its original form and this creates great power. The cylinder is sealed and there is no need for gas refilling.Check out all our Nitro Piston / Vortex air rifles here.

Co2-powered

Co2 powered air weapons use liquid Co2 gas to propel the bullet forward. In this category, you'll find everything from semi-automatic to bolt action and full-auto weapons. Co2 powered air weapons use either 12g Co2 cartridge or 88g Co2 cartridge. Co2 weapons require more maintenance than the usual break barrel rifles, we recommend silicone oil for lubrication as Co2 weapons use silicone seals to keep the weapon tight. Lubricate the weapon regularly and use cleaning cartridges if necessary, which you can find here! Remember not to leave the Co2 cartridge in for too long, as the pressure in the cartridge can increase and damage the weapon.
