Purchase of large-caliber air guns
Want to order Airguns with a caliber of 5.5mm or higher?
No problem! Read on.
If you want to order a registration-required airgun in our online store and have it sent to you by Posten/Bring, it's no problem.
But before we can send it, we need a couple of things from you.
After ordering, you must send an original police-approved weapon application (paper set in three parts) along with a copy of your driver's license or passport to the following address:

You can order the weapon you want even if you are waiting for your application to be processed. We will hold the weapon for you for up to 5 weeks until you get the application sorted with the police.
You must apply yourself if you have permission to buy/possess large caliber weapons.
APPLICATION FORM AND PROCESS:
The application form can be found digitally on the police's website. You can find the link to the application by clicking here. The application will then be processed by the police/sheriff who will decide whether it should be approved or denied.
You don't need to be a member of any club or have passed the hunter's exam to apply for a license to buy a regulated air weapon. However, you must have a legitimate purpose for it to be approved. This could be, for example, practice shooting or target shooting.
AGE LIMIT
The age limit for air weapons is 18 years.
THE APPLICATION
An application is valid for 12 months from the approved date. This means you have 1 year to purchase the weapon from the date the application is approved. If a dealer has trouble supplying you with the weapon you want within this time frame, or for some other reason you cannot use it within 12 months., it can be extended for an additional 6 months. Renewal must be done by the police before the application expires, otherwise, you will have to apply again.
Currently, the fee for an air weapon application is the same as for an application for a permit for a registrable weapon part, that is 374.-.

Some points that make filling out the application a bit easier:
- Your address in the National Registry determines which police station you should send the application to. If you're unsure, go to this link and enter your postal code under point 3.
It's important that you fill out all info about yourself correctly according to what is registered in the national registry.
- It's not necessary to decide exactly which weapon you want. It's enough that you write for example "Air rifle Caliber 5.5mm (.22)".Remember to specify if it's about a semi-automatic rifle or not. So, it's not necessary to fill out the fields with factory/brand/model designation and number when you're buying from us as an authorized dealer. However, if it's a private sale, this must be filled out along with the seller's name and address.
The intended use is what you're going to use the weapon for. Since it's not legal to hunt with air weapons in Norway, the main use for air weapons is primarily target practice or shooting.
Specify if you have an Insurance-approved gun safe (FG-safe). This is mandatory from the first weapon. If you have a receipt for the purchase of a gun safe, it's smart to include a copy.
DENIAL
Reasons for denial can be several things including if the applicant is below the age requirement, has a criminal background, or has specific reasons that make the applicant unsuitable to possess a weapon.Specific reasons are not specified, but it could be mental disorders, alcoholism/drug abuse, or age.
All rejections can be appealed to the Police Department.
Once the application is processed, it will be returned to you stamped and signed. Then you take the application to the seller who fills in the necessary data.
